So who is getting The Makeover Project?
Mount Mosaic community wanted to do a project for someone we didn’t know in 2009, so we went and partnered with our friends the Merivale Community Centre and asked them to nominate a family that would provide us with the opportunity and privilege of making over their house. Read more about Mount Mosaic below.
About the Family and House
The Family call the house “The Homestead” its a house that was bought as a place that any of the children and their children could come and go from when they needed to. Currently Rhismanda and her four children Cheyne, Journey, Matua and Cody-Rei live there. Rhismanda’s parents who originally bought the house are currently in Australia and have been wanting to come home ever since her Father had a stroke and was limited to a wheelchair. Sadly the house is not able to cater for his needs so for now they are stuck where they are. Not to be inconsiderate at all, but the house is very cold, very damp, needs a lot of love and repairs and needs to be remodeled for the way they do life. Rhismanda volunteers at the Community Centre and is an amazing and selfless women. She loves to entertain, spend time with her beautiful children and hang out with friends.
So The Big Dream
We would love to send Rhismanda and her family away on a holiday to Australia and bring her Parents back with them so they can share their new house together.
While they are away we want to add a new bedroom and en suite for the parents, remodel and renovate the existing house, including wheelchair access, and open bathrooms. landscape her property including veggie gardens and fruit trees and be able to present them with a house that is warm, dry, easy to move around in and adds value to the way they do life.
Who is behind The Makeover Project?
The Makeover Project is a Mount Mosaic initiative aimed at doing practical projects that help provide a need while changing the way people live in our city.
The reason we embark on such projects is because we are called to love humanity and live by faith. So The makeover project is not only a great vehicle of love to those receiving it is incredibly stretching and challenging for those who serve. This creates an opportunity to trust and rely on God. (Faith)

Mount Mosaic won the Regional Supreme Award at the TrustPower Community Awards 2009 for
there service and volunteerism in the community. Highlighted projects were the Margie Makeover,
Party in the Park, Big Saturdays and all the natural big and little things we do for our
neighbours.
