Changing the way we live…

I believe the world can change because it is suppose to change, its not how it was designed to be.
I also believe that this change needs to first occur in me, that if the world is to change, I need to change.
That is what this project is all about, – but not as it appears. Sure a house is changed, and hopefully a families life, relationships, and future is expanded, but I am convinced that the real change occurs within those individuals, communities, groups and work places that serve humanity on their backdoor and beyond. A new house is just the physical picture of what is happening to us and we become truly human, sacrificing for those around us.
Thanks for being part of the change and being the change.

Random Richard

logoFirstly if you read this Richard, I’m sorry for your new nick name. Random Richard from Tasman Doors and Open doors, two top quality interior door companies in Tauranga sent me an email via our website yesterday morning expressing his interest in helping out with our project. in a short few minute conversation he committed to helping us with all of our interior door needs as well financial support. Richard will be having a moving sale as he has a new premises to operate his businesses from. He has said that we will give half of his profits to The Makeover Project and Half to Habitat for Humanity. This is so amazing and is a huge testament to Tasman Doors, Open doors and Richard’s commitment to our local community. Thank you Random Richard.

Welcome Mayor Crosby and the Tauranga City Council

Tauranga City CouncilWhat a successful day- this morning we started with the task of mass business proposals to raise support and product for The Make over project. We started printing, cutting and folding packs together to give to businesses. Thanks to the generous donations from Kale print and v.Marketing we were able to have them looking amazing. Then we hit the car and started sharing the story. Now mid afternoon with one appointment left, we finish the day with free electrical supplies, bathroom supplies and wait for it… the big one… a full waiver of all council fees required for various permits. also we will have an on call building inspector for the course of the project so we have no hold ups. A big thank you to the Mayor and the Council for partnering with us and clearing the way. Also Stuart Crosby will help hand the keys over to the house with Simon Bridges. An exciting way to finish up a thursday- thanks for your support Tauranga.

Amazing and Challenging

Help- The Makeover Project

Help- The Makeover Project

Embarking on this project is both amazing and incredibly challenging.
Its amazing meeting people in businesses and organisations with the same heart we have- to sacrifice a little bit of something to improve life for someone else. To give up a bit of profit or product, a coffee or an ad space to help someone else out is inspiring.
However this project is also very challenging- ringing people on the cold, walking into businesses and finishing the days with no results at times. It can be hard to keep moving forward when the task seems so daunting. The days countdown, the dollar goals get further away and yet we still keep planning, drawing, talking like its going to happen and we’re going to get there. I’m not sure why at times but I honestly believe we will, somehow, some way get there and build this thing. Im excited to see God come through in unbelievable ways with unexplainable interactions and donations. So here is to charging forward despite experience, recession and money, but all the while knowing that life is lived to its full when courage is required and faith is never as real as when your waiting on God to come through. I love being apart of a community and a city that I know will respond and will give everything they have to help the person next door.

Thanks to our Sponsors and Partners

Its so amazing calling up businesses and chatting with people about this project. There is such an amazing willingness and heart to get behind what we are doing and partner with us on the way.

I just want to say a huge thank you to the sponsor and partners we have so far, and we look forward to having more people join us on this journey along the way.

check out the “Sponsors” page to see who is helping so far, and go to the “How can I help” page to see how you can partner with us to

Introduction to The Makeover Project

The Makeover Project- Merivale Oct 1st- 11th 2009

“Changing the way we live”

The Makeover Project is a Mt Mosaic initiative aimed at doing practical projects that help provide a need while changing the way people live in our city.

The Project aims to create pathways for people to give, volunteer and serve others in their community. We believe that the world can be a better place and its our role as humanity to give it a try.

The reason we embark on such projects is because we are called to love humanity and live by faith. So The makeover project is not only a great vehicle of love to those receiving it is incredibly stretching and challenging for those who serve. This creates an opportunity to trust and rely on God.
