Less than 3 weeks to go!

Hey Makeover Project supporters, first timers, donors and other interested parties.
Its crunch time at the moment with the last of the sponsorship to sort, the event of the project and the final part of the families holiday away to sort.
This week a big thanks to Placemakers in Mt Maunganui for working through our timber partners, Bay Tiles for donating 12m2 of tiles and Marexim for taking care of all the lighting products.
We now have less than 20 days left until we start the build and still need about $10,000 more, can you help?
If you are able to donate, or know someone who would like to please get a move on so we dont have to cut the project back at the last minute.
Thanks for your support- and thanks for making this possible

Video Update-

Project Update- Almost There

The Makeover Project is all about changing the way we live in our city. From the start we wanted to be about creating an opportunity for people in our city to serve each other in really practical, deliverable and rewarding ways. So as we have searched for businesses, trades people and support, we have tried to utilize the resources in our city as much as possible. I have been not just surprised, I’ve been blown away at the eagerness of people and businesses to give and get involved, so much so that we have reached the $58,000 mark. (We are almost there)

-All the plans and consent should be submitted to council by the end of the week
-Thanks to the Mayor or waiving and paying for all the fees.
-A huge thank you to Lance, Gareth and Jason for your hard work drawing and planning.

-The Families tickets have been booked and they are going to Australia for a holiday and to help the grandparents pack up and get ready to come back to the house together. Thanks you Air New Zealand for gifting all of these tickets.

-Monier are supplying our roofing tiles

-Plumbing World is fitting out our bathroom, from tapware to toilets

There are many more Partners still in the pipeline and there is a giant list of generous donors, and Artists who have helped us to get to where we are.

Huge thank you to Brian Miller who is our construction/project manager and is working tirelessly to make sure we hit our deadlines.

Thanks to the design team and thank you to all of you for giving gifts, talking with your friends, praying and getting behind this amazing project.

I expected at the start to have it all fall in to place at the last minute, but we live in such a generous country and city and every thing is starting to come together ahead of time- we are set to achieve this amazing project and give the Hunapo family the home they need.

Some of the big things still to tackle:
Food for workers during the 10 days
Furniture and appliances for house (beds, TV, kettle everything and anything)
Timber for decks, framing, joists, fences etc
More Cash $$$$

So how can you help from here:

Keep talking with your friends and businesses, if they can help please get them in contact with me, and of course keep praying.

Thanks for all your support

Joel

Amazed, Thankful and sitting at a cafe

Murphy’s Law so is still alive and well. I have spent the last few weeks making dozens and dozens of calls, emails and visits to companies looking for partnerships and sponsorships each day with mixed success. It seemed at the start of the project we got some great partners in the way of Air New Zealand, Stanley Group and Energy Options but then it quickly became hard work. However today as been a day of success, not much of which I can take the credit for as I was driving to the airport in Auckland for most of the morning, but when it rains it pours. Today we have had confirmed partnerships from an amazing group of companies. I would like to thank the following:

James Hardie – for supplying all cement cladding products free of charge
Carter Hold Harvey – for supplying ShadowClad free of charge
GIB – giving us 25% off cost
Bay Electrical – supplying all electrical work and certs free
Plumbing works – giving us a crew of Plumber for the week
Hirepool – offering free supply of tools, equipment and diggers
More FM – for giving us plenty of interviews, promotional time and covering the project for free
J.A. Russell LTD – for taking care of our electrical supply for free

A huge thanks to these companies and all the others for wanting to help change the way we live and give this family a new home- all the partnering companies can be viewed on our sponsors page

Every Dollar you give goes into the House

After reading the paper and listening to the radio this morning it seems charities, companies working for charities and media involved in charity work are taking a smashing. Firstly I would would like to defend and stand next to those companies, organisations and most importantly people that have the right heart, live sacrificially and commit themselves to helping make the world a better place. There are lots of these people in the world (sure we need more) but lets not spread the collateral damage to those that are undeserving. I personally know of many media companies, PR agencies, promotion companies charities and people that are doing great things with the right motives and are doing them the right way.

I am pleased to say that my wages to organise this project are covered by Mosaic, that the admin, hosting, and running costs are all covered by Mosaic- all promotional material is donated by v-Marketing, Kale Print and Mosaic and that means Every dollar that is donated to this project can be found 100% in the finished House.

So if you want to see your gift to charity 100% put into action support this project, and come along and see the impact it makes

Thanks

Joel
